Friends' Events 

We hold events which are usually in the form of illustrated talks monthly on Wednesday mornings starting at 10.30 and lasting for an hour. 

These are open to everybody and cost £4 for members and £6 for visitors. 

They take place in the Lecture Theatre at Southampton City Art Gallery. 

Note: Social distancing in still in place in the Lecture Theatre so, at present, numbers are restricted and you have to book your place. You can do this for our next event by pressing the Register button

           Optics in Art

This talk from Graham Piggott, Head of Art at King Edwards V1 School will look at the use of Optics in Art through the ages. Graham will show us examples from the Renaisance, the Dutch Golden age of Art and works from Degas, Rembrant and Caravaggio

       Unsettled Landscapes: the Art of the Eerie

    Wednesday 26th January 2022 at 10.30am

 Steve Marshall from the St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery will show us unsettling and strange landscapes in British art from the 1920's onwards.
