Art and the British Climate

Join FoSMAG's Jenny Leonard for an illustrated talk on our islands' weather and its portrayal in art.

Time & Location

25 Jun 2025, 10:30 – 11:30 BST

Banqueting Hall, Tudor House & Garden, Bugle St, Southampton SO14 2AD, UK

About the event

June's illustrated talk is a whistlestop history of British weather and the events that have affected the inhabitants of our islands, from the Romans to us in the present day. This talk shows how artists, both British and Foreignh, have portrayed our weather. Expect snow, frost, volcanic ash, and occasionally glorious sunshine!

Jenny Leonard has been a FoSMAG member for many years. She'll be well-known to members as the Membership Secretary and Newsletter Editor. She has presented well-received art history talks to multiple local groups to raise money for FoSMAG.
